The particle is on the left side of the box and can only move left, right, up or down.
The box has a length of 5 centimeters and a width of 1 cm. The height of the box is 1 cm.
The horizontal position of the particle in the box is changed once per second, and the particle can move as the length of the box changes by exactly 1 cm.

How to use this program:

Start the program and set the time interval for the horizontal change of position for the particle.
Make sure that you always make the calculation at the same time interval. 
Energies of an example calculation:

The box has length of 5 centimeters and a width of 1 cm.

The particle has a mass of 0.1 grams.

Calculation the energy of the system:

H = 0.5*m.v^2 + 0.1*b*m.v
= 0.1*1.2*10^-3*10^3 + 0.1*0.6*0.5*1*10^-3
= 0.03 + 0.1 = 0.13



What's New In ParticleInBox?


Enter the name of the particle and its kinetic energy (in units of keV). The particle should be constrained to a box of side L (the box's length can be entered in the units of keV).

The program's output will display the particle's eigenvalues and eigenfunctions.
The spectrum will be visualized using the MATLAB graphics toolbox.
The spectrum can be plotted with a color scale, or by saving the individual eigenfunctions in a graphics file for later use.

Additionally the program can print out the number of nodes and the box length on the screen.
